If you’d like a Westbury Garden Room we will, first things first, want to know all about your existing building and your upcoming project. Once we have established the basics, a designer will visit your home to discuss your ideas and gain a full understanding of your requirements and expectations.
We will undertake a detailed survey, recording measurements and identifying any potential issues such as drainage, before providing a concept illustration and a detailed quotation.
We recognise that investing in a building project is a big decision, with concerns that need answering, which is why we’re so thorough even at this stage. Our aim is to help you visualise the finished building as best we can, and to provide a full and transparent cost estimate so that there are no surprises further down the line.
Once you have decided to proceed with the build, your project gets passed to our project managers, who will ensure that it runs timely, smoothly and efficiently.
Our experienced CAD technicians will draw your project to scale clearly and accurately so that we can be sure that every aspect of the project is understood by all parties from local authorities, to bricklayers, yourselves, and your builders.
If planning permission is required (it isn’t always) we will do all the paperwork on your behalf and keep you informed as it progresses. We will handle the legal paperwork that is needed, for example building regulations, SAP (heat loss) and structural engineer’s calculations.
We have great experience in listed building applications and use an independent planning consultant, where necessary, to assure a smooth ride navigating the planning process.
Once all consents are obtained, your project manager will send you a schedule detailing start and finish dates and your project can get underway.
Concept to creation
Often, we return to find our concept drawing framed and hanging on the garden room wall, so hopefully, what you see really is what you get!
Your Build
Although renovating can be a messy job, our men will leave the site in a tidy fashion each day and ensure your home remains secure at all times.
Work will begin on the date provided by your project manager and we are early risers – beginning work at 7.30am each day (traffic allowing).
Prior to the start of your project, a schedule will be drawn up and agreed upon with you. This will show you a detailed timeline of all aspects of the project.
All structural timber frames, windows and doors will be manufactured by our experienced craftsmen at the Westbury Joinery factory. All timber components are pre-assembled, checked, painted and glazed at the workshop, before being packed and taken to site to be installed by our experienced fitters. This ensures maximum efficiency for us and minimum disruption to you.
Finishing Touches & Aftercare
After installation is complete, our window cleaner will arrive to clean the windows and doors. Assuming both parties are completely satisfied with the finished project, it can be signed off and then it’s all yours to put your feet up in.
To confirm our confidence in the quality of our workmanship, we issue a 10-year guarantee alongside a full care and maintenance information pack.
Your insurance company will be pleased to know that our doors and windows meet the very highest security standards (PAS24) and our insulated roof, hi-tech glass, underfloor heating and sophisticated ventilation systems ensure that your room has the quality and environmental credentials to satisfy you and construction legislation now and in the future. We make sure all of the boxes are ticked so that, should you wish to sell your home in the future, you have all the certification you need to meet your buyer’s and solicitor’s needs.
Once completed we will carry out an inspection of your joinery, glass and paint and keep well-organised and detailed records on file. Should you require a paint match or need to replace a broken pane of glass in years to come, we will have all the information on hand to promptly order replacements.
Minimal maintenance is required to keep your garden room looking its best. We recommend a simple washing down of paintwork twice a year to keep it clear of organisms, and you should touch in any areas of damage or joint movement as soon as they occur to prevent water ingress.
A Westbury garden room will have longevity in both its design and product lifetime; an appreciating asset that is built to last.
