Designer
Jillaine
After working with Westbury on a project for her own home, Jillaine has since pursued a career with us as a Designer. She covers projects across Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. Here Jillaine tells a little more about her background and her experience with Westbury.
I spent many years in the fashion industry, studying for a fashion degree before pursuing a successful career as a fashion buyer. This was always woven in with design and interiors projects. More recently my focus has been turned more toward family life and renovating our family home.
Our interest in Westbury stemmed from wanting to evolve our home from a lovely Victorian house into a more modern and practical home that suits modern living. Westbury Garden Rooms was a natural choice. We felt the Westbury style would respect the original architectural style of the building but also bring a more modern aesthetic. As a client, I felt that the Westbury team had a real passion for design and really cared about how that translated to improving our home experience. There was always somebody with the expertise or experience to help us realise all the big, and crucially, the small design elements that make the project work as a whole.
It’s a privilege to be involved with such a premium product that has integrity, in terms of design and construction, sewn in at every level. I am also excited to be working with colleagues who care passionately about the product, the client and the client’s experience. It seems like fate that I should be working with Westbury Garden Rooms after having had such a positive experience as a client.
I think we all feel, more keenly than ever, the need to be connected to nature, to feel the restorative nature of natural light and to experience the evolving seasons. Sometimes our homes only peer out onto these elements, but with a Westbury garden room, we can feel much more immersed in them. A garden room can bring in light and warmth and can allow us to witness weather patterns and sunsets that traditionally constructed rooms sometimes exclude us from experiencing.
I aim to listen carefully to the client’s thoughts in order to understand their lifestyle, plans for the future and aspirations. I want to know what they love about their home and garden and what is perhaps frustrating their enjoyment. I hope my own experience will give them that little bit of extra confidence to visualise how a Westbury garden room can affect their lives for the better, at all times of day, from everyday family breakfast to family dinners with the doors flung open, late-night parties with friends or just winding down enjoying the evening glow.
I am excited to see clients realise the very best version of their home; to see their space transformed in a way that meets their practical needs, fulfils their lifestyle aspirations and performs on a more sensory level. At a time when so many of us are working from home, there can’t be a better place to have a home office than in a Westbury Garden Room, overlooking the garden, with the light cast from a roof lantern.
