James joined Westbury’s team over 21 years ago and combines his designer role with that of being Managing Director of Westbury Garden Rooms.

Since joining the Westbury team in 1998, it has been a privilege to be part of the company’s growth and continuous product development creating not only beautiful structures, but buildings that will stand the test of time.

After studying Art & Design, I joined Westbury as a Draughtsman where I developed my knowledge of garden room design and all aspects each side of the build. It is incredibly rewarding to see a drawing move through the workshop and transform the concept design into reality.

I enjoy the variety of buildings and the changing styles of architecture that go into creating our structures. One of the main things I really love about our way of working here at Westbury, is that every project is built to the specification of our drawings and our necessity to meet each of our individual client’s needs entirely.

I always take the time to listen to a clients’ thoughts before jumping in with my ideas; after all, a technically good design alone may not meet their day to day needs. I’ll then spend time drawing on our experience and expertise to make a tailored recommendation. Building an orangery or garden room can be a big investment so it is something that must be done right and planned well.

When away from Westbury, I enjoy a range of sport and travel and I will often find myself signing up for a physical challenge or two. Between this I enjoy a lot of long dog walks at home in rural Essex.
