A timber orangery extension looking out onto a charming city courtyard garden

An Elegant Timber Orangery in the Suburbs

Open Gallery

The homeowners of this former coach house in the suburbs of London, were looking to build an extension to their home. They appointed us to design and build a beautiful orangery to look out onto their fabulous courtyard style garden. As space is precious and valued, there is much to be gained from small additions, especially in London where the need for living space has never been at more of a premium. This orangery extension was added to make a larger and more useful kitchen space.

The elegant timber orangery extends the living space, providing a new tranquil seating and dining area full of natural light. Nestled into a formerly unused corner of the garden the full height glazing and double French doors offer uninterrupted views out on to the terrace.

The clean lines and symmetry of the square roof lantern provide superb architectural impact when viewed from inside or out. The added height and sense of space has enhanced the ambience of the room, creating a new inviting space perfect for relaxation and dining with the family or friends.

Painted in New Salt Stone, the orangery complements the coach house’s original brickwork and traditional sash windows perfectly. The construction features guttered eaves around its perimeter so not diminish the orangery’s simple elegance.
