A Family Kitchen Extension

Open Gallery

The family of this handsome Georgian house were looking to create a living space that would become the heart of their home. Conscious of the property’s history, they did not want to alter the original layout or period features and so appointed Westbury Garden Rooms to help.

Working with the owner’s tastes, needs and existing home, Westbury designed and built an orangery style kitchen extension across the rear elevation of the house; linking the original network of rooms together. This created an area that would give our client the much-needed open planned living space they had been dreaming of.

The owner’s previous kitchen had been dark and dreary and so natural light was a must. Now with three roof lanterns, the kitchen extension is flooded with natural light. The elegant vaulted ceilings emphasise the sense of space.

Three large sets of timber French doors open out onto the garden, providing full height views and access to the once forgotten garden. Perfect for this young family.

Painted in New Salt Stone, the kitchen extension fits effortlessly with the symmetry of the Georgian architecture. The large full-length windows and French doors complement the property’s heritage, while Westbury’s classic entablature enhances its charm.

Westbury’s kitchen extension design has truly transformed this Georgian property.

  • Both the design and execution were carried out in a professional manner and the team was an absolute pleasure to work with at every step of the way.
