Westbury Garden Rooms works with Essex County Highways to train road safety

Road safety is imperative; here's how we educate our employees

We should all be aware of the importance of road safety with campaigns such as ‘Think!’, highlighting our personal responsibility to our passengers, other road users and pedestrians.

To ensure the ongoing safety of its fifty employees, Essex based designers and manufacturers of timber garden rooms Westbury Garden Rooms worked in close partnership with Essex County Highways to provide effective and thought provoking training.

The training was delivered by Grahame Pinder, Road Safety Officer – Driver Improvement for Essex County Highways. An retired traffic officer for Essex Police with over 3025 years’ experience dealing with road traffic accidents across the county, Grahame knows better than most the damage and cost to lives that is caused through poor driving in our county. Using Government audited statistics, highway code details and impactful videos, the training was presented to the audience within the Essex Casualty Reduction Board’s own ‘Community buy cheap hydrocodone online cod Wheels’, itself highlighting the issue to those present.

Jonathan Hey, Managing Director of Westbury said: “It is our responsibility to ensure our professional drivers understand Westbury’s Occupational Road Risk policy. Our drivers do a lot of miles for us, so we need to facilitate their safety. We also took time out of the working day for all our staff to experience the training, as the majority of our staff travel by car to and from work. The training had a positive effect on all our staff, young and old. We would recommend anyone with commercial drivers to undertake it”.

24% of serious injuries and 30% of road deaths in 2010 could be linked to work-related road traffic accidents. It is the responsibility of Essex businesses to take action and provide a safe working environment for their drivers and staff.
