We Love… Christmas11 Dec
In our regular feature, 'We Love... Wednesdays', we share some of our favourite ideas for using your orangery or garden room at Christmas.
Cold temperatures and long dark winter nights are well and truly upon us, but this certainly doesn’t mean your garden room will become a redundant space. Advanced wood and glass technologies and craftsmanship ensure that your Westbury garden room will provide a comfortable area of the home all year round. The additional space will also make entertaining friends and family more seamless and enjoyable, so why not create a snug winter grotto for everyone to enjoy together this festive season?
Light the space
The darker winter evenings provide a great opportunity to showcase an alternative side to your garden room with the use of additional lighting, lanterns, and candles set up around the space to illuminate the room with a magical glow. You could also consider fixing outdoor Christmas lights in the surrounding garden area to highlight certain plants and features that can be enjoyed when looking outside from the warmth of the extension.
Deck the halls
You may not feel so inclined to open up your garden room doors and windows when the weather is bitter and cold outside, but you can still continue to create the wonderful feeling of bringing the outside in during the festive season with a few natural decorations positioned around the room. Pretty plants such as sprigs of holly, ivy, and mistletoe, a leafy wreath, or a beautiful poinsettia in your garden room to provide an inviting festive space that is ideal for relaxing with your family and friends.
On the topic of Christmas plants, a huge benefit of having an orangery or garden room extension on your property is that you’ll have additional space in your home to choose from when deciding where to stand that all-important Christmas tree. If the main Christmas tree is set in another room in the house, another idea could be to use your garden room to house a second tree which is particularly ideal for those families with different decor tastes to one another.
The main event of Christmas day is often the family Christmas dinner, and where better to host this special occasion than inside of your orangery or garden room? Gather your loved ones around a table and celebrate the event with your finest glassware and crockery and some simple table decorations.
From us all at Westbury Garden Rooms, we wish you a very Merry Christmas!
