Luxury Hotels with Stylish Pool Houses

pool-house

Not only do they look luxurious, but pool houses are the ideal solution to allow for swimming all year round. With spectacular glazing and bespoke joinery, they can suit both residential and commercial swimming pools.

Whether you want a place to destress and escape your hectic schedule, or you wish to spend more quality time outside in the summer, our glazed pool houses are ideal for family homes and hotels alike. A pool house can serve several purposes, either providing cover for your pool or to act as a nearby summer house or changing facility.

For many, a holiday isn’t the same unless there’s a glorious pool to swim in, and a glazed pool house is an ever-popular choice for hotels. They offer a sheltered space which lets the sunshine in and ensures guests can use the facility in all weather conditions.

Each of our bespoke pool houses have been designed to suit their surroundings, but they all require air handling and heating to eliminate condensation and ensure the pool house remains at a comfortable temperature. Inside, the atmosphere is likely to be heavy with moisture, so glazing with silicone and the correct paint is needed to ensure the building’s longevity.

The Grand Hotel Pool House in Sri Lanka, designed by Westbury Garden Rooms

There is a distinctly sophisticated air to The Grand Hotel, which is based in Sri Lanka’s central Nuwara Eliya district. Combining Balinese holistic therapies with 127-year-old historical architecture, the Grand Spa and Mindfulness Studio is complete with a gym and indoor swimming pool. The swimming pool sits inside a magnificent glazed pool house, designed by Westbury Garden Rooms.

The design included an opulent Roof Lantern with decorative finials, bespoke glazed door sets and 110 meters of beautifully designed fascia and mouldings. The glass in the roof lantern is laid on a unique glazing gasket, fixed down and sealed with aluminium capping which helps to provide a maintenance-free roof.

Two automatic roof vents can be opened at any time to help with ventilation and temperature control, which are essential for a glazed structure in warmer climates. All the doors and windows have high insulating, 4-20-4mm toughened glass units with Low-E coating to the inner leaf, with argon gas-filled cavities and warm edge spacer bars. Where the roof will have a lot of exposure to the sun, the lantern has high insulating, 4-16-4mm toughened glass units with Soft Low-E coating to the inner leaf.

The pool house has all the character of a timber-framed building combined with the modern conveniences one would expect from an exclusive hotel. Westbury Garden Rooms prepared working drawings for the design and supplied the fully finished timber components ready for installation at the location by experienced fitters.  You can find more details about the project in our case study.

Inspiration: Our favourite pool houses from Instagram

If you’re struggling to find the time to relax and think a holiday is on the cards, or you own a hotel and want to rejuvenate your business with a new pool house, Instagram can be a great place to find new ideas. To illustrate how pool houses have been incorporated into hotel projects by various designers, we’ve put together a selection of our favourites below.

1. Guests will feel instantly at home at this hotel, with pool-side rooms featuring natural accents and contemporary furnishings. Each room has direct access to the side of the pool, with a private patio.

2. A tranquil paradise just off the Ionian Sea, the Olea All Suite Hotel on the Greek island of Zakynthos boasts a truly exceptional pool-side experience.

3. Sharp lines and calming jade-green pools bring together a truly sophisticated space.

4. Featuring an indoor pool in an undiscovered corner of the Malvern Hills, this hotel provides spectacular views over farmland to the hills beyond.

5. This elegant Grecian hotel on the island of Mykonos features a turquoise-blue infinity pool and aquarium bar. Giving an alternative spin on a classic ‘pool house’, the cave pool suites provide guests with a completely different holiday experience.

6. We adore Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum in Miami, which features a double-height swimming pool situated at the top of the tower. The metallic ceiling has a unique, rippled design, and large windows provide views across the city below.

Westbury Garden Rooms designs and manufactures elegant, bespoke garden rooms, orangeries, and pool houses. Each structure is made from the finest quality, sustainable timber.
