Your Questions
Answered

See below for common questions you may have. please however feel free to contact us for more information and questions you may have.

1. Do I need Planning Permission?

Planning permission is normally required and we will obtain this approval on your behalf. Our applications are rarely rejected as we take care to consult with the planning officer before submitting our application. If your house is listed or in a conservation area, we will obtain the extra consents needed.

2. What impact will my building have on the environment?

Using Westbury, you will limit your impact on the environment as we are reducing our use of hardwoods to around 15%, and are working to reduce this to nil without compromising the longevity of our buildings. In many cases, a new garden room improves the insulation on what is often a very poorly insulated area of the house.

3. Will my building be high maintenance?

Low maintenance is built into our design and production and we supply a care pack at the end of the job. We can order your paint and arrange for it to be applied and also arrange to have your building washed. Generally, cleaning the exterior of the building twice a year is all it will need. The roof has powder coated aluminium cappings and requires no repainting.

4. Will it be cold in winter and hot in summer?

With our orangeries and garden rooms in particular, there is a limit to the glazing so the hard areas are highly insulated, making sure warmth stays in during winter and out in summer.

5. How long does it take from our appointment with your designer to our finished building?

Once planning permission has been granted, the project will be totally finished within 12 weeks. A detailed schedule will be sent to you at the beginning of the project.

6. Who will be carrying out the works at my house?

Everyone working on your project will be a Westbury employee. We do not employ sub-contractors so you can be
confident that our workmen will always meet the high standards we set.

7. What if something goes wrong in the future?

We keep all of our customers’ details and specification on record so if you break a piece of glass we will order a replacement for you without having to visit your home to measure up.

8. Where are Westbury Conservatories made?

Having designed the buildings we send the technical drawings to our own joinery shop for manufacture.

Quality control is paramount to Westbury.. our reputation depends on it so having our own joinery is crucial when obtaining the highest levels of quality throughout the building.

9. Can I buy additional windows to match the style of my new extension?

Yes we also manufacture timber windows and doors to match your new Conservatory. We can also supply doors and windows to deserving builders.

10. How do I go about getting a quotation or placing an order?

Westbury has been inspiring clients for over 20 years. We are a well established company that has built its reputation on fine bespoke design and the highest quality service. The majority of our clients have come to us as a recommendation from their friends, families or colleagues.

16. Why choose Westbury over another company?

There are a few finer points that may not be obvious at first.

1) The fineness of the design and its lack of bulk in certain areas will make a difference to the final building

2) Longevity of the design – Because of our 20 years of experience we find it easy at Westbury to get the proportion correct on our designs..many others don’t. A building that is correct in stature and proportion will far out last any building that has been draw with less knowledge and skill.

3) We do not use sub-contractors when building our Conservatories. We have our own permanent craftsmen that work for Westbury which means that the quality of the finished product is always to the highest standard again adding to the longevity.

Dedicated project management. On choosing Westbury you will have a dedicated project manager who will oversee all aspects of your schedule. Projects can be complex so this service is vital in giving our clients the peace of mind that everything will go smoothly. We will also liaise with other contractors (e.g a kitchen
installation) and integrate their schedules into ours to ensure minimum disruption for our clients.
